A new, medically-led course that takes your cryotherapy knowledge to the next level — covering the full science of skin lesions, cellular biology, and advanced techniques for complex presentations.

The science

How advanced
cryotherapy works

Advanced CryoIQ Device
−89°C
Operating temperature
1
Millimetre-precision delivery
The advanced CryoIQ device emits a fine jet of super cold nitrous oxide gas under high pressure. With the advanced applicator tips, you can target even large and complex lesions with pinpoint accuracy — with zero damage to surrounding healthy tissue.
2
Cell membrane rupture
The device destroys targeted tissue by freezing the inter-cellular fluid. Ice shards and crystals form, rupturing the cell membrane and destroying the cell. The advanced course teaches you exactly how this process differs across varying lesion types.
3
Understanding the healing process
The advanced course covers primary healing in depth — how the body resolves each type of lesion, what results to expect across different presentations, and how to interpret the healing response to confirm successful treatment.
4
Lesion aetiology & development
Unlike the foundation course, the advanced programme takes you into the structure of the skin at a cellular level — covering how different lesion types develop, their pathology, and the clinical decision-making required for safe, effective treatment.
Know the difference

Foundation vs
Advanced

Both courses are CPD certified and taught by Cryosthetics. The Advanced course builds directly on Foundation skills — you must have completed the Foundation (or have equivalent clinical experience) before attending.

What you can treat
at advanced level

The advanced course covers a significantly broader range of skin conditions beyond the foundation curriculum — complex lesion types that require deeper clinical knowledge to treat safely.

The science behind the treatment

What is cryotherapy?

Cryotherapy is the controlled application of extreme cold to destroy unwanted skin cells and tissue — safely, precisely, and without harming the surrounding healthy skin.

Operating temperature of the CryoIQ device
−89°C
Nitrous oxide gas jet Emitted at super-cold temperature under high pressure

Zero
Collateral damage Inter-cellular ice crystals rupture only the targeted cell membrane
How cryotherapy destroys unwanted cells
1
Super-cold gas is applied to the target
The CryoIQ device emits a fine jet of nitrous oxide at −89°C under high pressure — applied directly to the skin imperfection with millimetre-level precision using the appropriate applicator tip.
2
Inter-cellular fluid freezes instantly
The extreme cold freezes the fluid inside the targeted cells. Ice shards and crystals form rapidly inside the cell — rupturing the cell membrane from within and destroying the cell entirely.
3
Surrounding tissue remains unaffected
Because the cold is applied only to the lesion with precision, healthy surrounding tissue is left completely undamaged. There is no collateral damage — only the targeted cells are destroyed.
4
The body naturally clears the site
Over the following days and weeks, the body's immune system recognises and clears the destroyed tissue. The treated area heals cleanly and the imperfection resolves — typically leaving no scarring.
Cryotherapy vs alternatives
Vs surgical removal — No cutting, no anaesthetic, no stitches, no recovery time. Most treatments take seconds.
Vs laser treatment — No heat damage to surrounding tissue, suitable for more skin types, no risk of hyperpigmentation in the treated area.
Vs topical treatments — Immediate, targeted action rather than weeks of repeated application. One session typically required per lesion.
Not suitable for — Cold intolerance, Raynaud's disease, or cryoglobulinaemia. Full contraindication guidance is covered in our training.
